Sleep Deprivation
Sleep deprivation is something that many Americans are facing on a nightly basis. Many adults are facing the pressures of work and family and getting less and less sleep causes many people to be less functional during the day. Many people do not get sleep because they are obsessed with there work or are busy running around all day. Some others are stressed out from their jobs and family and this keeps them tossing and turning all night. I myself have discovered that I lack the proper amount of sleep that a typical college student should be getting. Some ways that people cope with their sleep deprovation is by taking medication to help them get a full nights rest. While some doctors prescribe sleep medicines such as Lunesta to help patients sleep properly at night, these patients discover that they need the medicine every night and become addicted to it and cannot sleep without it. Another way that doctors are helping people sleep at night is by using light to help reset their internal clock. A friend of mine had trouble sleeping while in high school and his doctor chose this method to fixing his sleep cycle. It proved to be very effective and it was an alternative to taking medication which would run the chance of becoming addicted.
