The video we watched Monday in class about the virtual treatment for soldiers suffering from PTSD was very interesting. I think that first hand exposure to the problem bothering people is a great idea. However one thing the interview did not touch on was when is it too much? Obviously there has to be a balance between the amounts of virtual footage the soldier suffering from PTSD are exposed to. Psychologists it seems need to be very careful when exposing their patients to the very cause of there stress. Overall I think it is a great concept. A close friend of mine just returned from Iraq recently and has been diagnosed with PTSD. He gets anxious in small places with lots of people, or when he hears sudden loud noises such as fire engines or police cars. Maybe some sort of virtual treatment such as the treatment shown in the video in class would benefit him.
