PTSD & the Family

In class, we watched a video about PTSD and virtual reality treatments, where the person diagnosed with PTSD relives their worst moments in virtual reality. I was curious about learning more about the treatment of PTSD and found that the family and friends surrounding the person with PTSD can help a little bit. It is important for the family members to be patient and understanding, anticipate and prepare for PTSD triggers, try not to take the symptoms of PTSD personally, and don't pressure your loved one into talking.

I think that these are really good tips for those who have a loved one with PTSD. I can't imagine having to deal with PTSD personally or through someone else. I never want to go through such a traumatic situation that I would be diagnosed with PTSD. Those memories and vivid flashbacks sound unbearable.
