Technology In Schools

I found the video we watched in class last week on high school students and technology in schools to be very interesting. I can absolutely relate to these kids as most students I’m sure can. We are constantly surrounded with technological distractions weather it be facebook when we are trying to do homework, or texting some one when we are in class. The advances made in technology make it very hard to stay focused in school. I recently remember being so bored in class that I started watching sports center on my cell phone. There should definitely be restrictions on the use of cell phones and computers in classrooms. A lot of my friends attend large universities where they are allowed to bring their computers to class. Although the teacher may think they are taking notes and paying attention, the majority of the time they are cruising around on facebook or other websites. Since I have began college I have managed to minimize the use of my cell phone in the classroom, however at night when I am tying to do homework sometimes I will just zone out on facebook or some other website. The use of computers, cell phones, ipods, etc. in school should be monitored. However at large institutions it seems like it is almost impossible to make such efforts that would actually have an effect on the students.
