Self Efficacy

While reviewing Chapter 11, I made the connection that I sometimes have a low self-efficacy when taking tests. Not only do I worry that the test will be too hard for me to perform well (even if I am confident that I know the information), but then, I let that worry affect how I actually perform. I think that even if I do know the information, I will perform badly on a test regardless. If I had a high self efficacy, I would be more confident about how I will perform on the test.

  1. I agree with Chelsea, I also don't have a very high self efficiency. I never believe I can do something 100%. When it comes to tests I also never feel completely confident. Even if I have studied and feel good about the material, as soon as I see a question that I don't know the answer to then I immediately get nervous and loose some confidence.

  2. I too, agree! I always work very hard in school, but I feel as though my efforts are never enough! It can be quite frustrating when I finish studying for a test and then being to second guess what I information I actually processed. I think that the process of second guessing can really lower self efficiency, because it makes us nervous and unsure of what is actually true. That is why they say that it is important to go with your instincts, even if I haven't learned to do that yet.

  3. I am different than above. Prior to taking a test I always seem to have a positive mind set going in and when i do this i find my performance to be much better, even if I am unprepared for the test. A better way to go into a test would to be prepared so a high self efficacy would take care of itself rather than me continuously telling myself that I will succeed.

  4. I always say you have to believe in yourself to do well. To do good on a test, you have to believe that you are going to do well. It does not matter on how prepared you are, if you feel like you are going to fail, than how can you expect to do any better?
