Therapies
Today in class, we watched a video about different Therapies that were used help women who suffer from breast cancer. One of the issues was if education therapy worked better than peer discussions. I think that in most situations and therapy sessions, an educational approach would always work better in helping people understand and overcome something than peer discussions would. A lot of these women were probably very confused about their disease, so the education therapy further educated them, making them more able to understand the disease and thus giving them the tools to learn to work through it. While peer discussion is an important aspect to recovery because you get support from others and are able to talk about your issues, therapy that educates you on a certain topic is probably more useful in the end.

I thought this video was very interesting and I can see why education was better than the peer discussions. I know that I feel better if I am educated about a subject. I feel like I know a bit more, and knowing calms me down. Hearing other people's problems can worry me instead of helping me sometimes, and that is why I don't necessarily like the peer discussion technique.
