Psychotherapy
In class, we talked about psychoanalysis, or insight therapy. In class, we learned that insight therapy gives you an insight into your life, if you've fallen off track, it helps you get your life back on track. I think that it is important to have knowledge of yourself. I think that understanding yourself leads to you being able to move forward in your life. Unresolved problems and dilemmas can tie you down. If you know that there are fresh opportunities waiting for you, it is easier to move forward. It is important to make a permanent change in your life, especially if you have depression and anxiety. Insight therapy can help you make the change in your life that will stay with you forever.

Placebo Effects
ReplyDeleteI once read a study in which psychologists went to a local university to do an experiment on the power of the placebo effect. They got 10 volunteers that were 21 or older, and served all of them alcoholic beverages in a party like setting. After the volunteers had finished a few drinks they began speaking louder and acting as if they were getting drunk, they danced and stumbled and fell down over each other. after about 2 hours of this behavior
the psychologist leading the experiment instructed all of the participants to drive home because the experiment was over, when the participants protested driving because they had been drinking, the psychologist informed them that they had been drinking non alcoholic beverages. This demonstration of the placebo effect was amazing to me and very funny.
