Sleep deprivation affects many people
including myself. On average I
receive about four hours of sleep. I did not realize how badly it was hurting me until I caught myself dozing off behind the wheel. This was a very scary and dangerous experience that I would never relive. Sleep is a very important part of our every day lives. It is vital to recieve the correct amount of sleep in order to function correctly.
I have also done this myself. almost falling asleep at the wheel is extremely scary and dangerous. After this happened to me once, I realized that if I've only gotten about four-five hours of sleep that night, i probably should not drive the next day. From then on, I follow that rule. I think that is important that I watch out for my safety and others'.
ReplyDeleteI agree as well, I noticed that during football season we would have to wake up at 4:45 in the morning for football practices and on these days i would constantly doze off in class and i would not feel great all day. I contribute this to sleep deprivation. Now that football is over and these wakeups are no longer necessary i find myself staying alert much easier and feeling better as a whole.
ReplyDeleteThis past 2 weeks I started a miniature self-experiment with sleep deprivation. I concluded that my body needs at least 9 hours of sleep in order to function to its fullest potential. I progressively slept less and less every night starting at 10 hours all the way to 4 hours the last night. It was staggering to see the change in my activity and my ability to recall information.
